Got Questions? We’ve Got Clean Answers.

Explore answers to the most common questions about air curtain burning, biochar production, carbonizer deployment, safety, permitting, and more. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, we’re just a message away.

We handle clean woody biomass, including slash piles, limbs, brush, logs, and untreated timber from forestry, pipeline, construction, and municipal sources. We do not process painted, pressure-treated, or contaminated materials.

Biochar is produced when woody debris is burned in low-oxygen conditions and converted into a stable, carbon-rich material. It’s commonly used to improve soil health, retain moisture, reduce fertilizer needs, and sequester carbon for hundreds of years — making it valuable for agriculture, land reclamation, and environmental offset projects.

Our services are carbon-negative, meaning they remove more CO₂ from the atmosphere than they emit. This is achieved by sequestering carbon in the form of biochar during the burn process and avoiding emissions associated with hauling or open burning.

Every Prairie Creek service includes a skilled operator. We deliver, operate, and manage the entire burn or carbonizer process — ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance from start to finish.

Project timelines vary based on volume, material type, weather, and location. Some burns can be completed in a day, while larger carbonizer deployments may take several days, months, or even years to complete. Projects are seasonal, and we can only burn when permitted. We’ll provide a detailed timeline during your project quote.

Yes — client is responsible for all permitting. We can help guide you to coordinate with local municipalities and agencies to ensure all necessary permits and fire bans are accounted for.

Prairie Creek Energy Services is proudly based in Alberta and currently serves clients across Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan. We are actively expanding our reach and are available to discuss projects in other regions across Canada.
